What Are The Main Parts Of A Research Paper And How To Write Them Properly?

A research paper is a piece of academic writing, which must be organized in accordance with certain demands. These demands are determined by the writing style you or your teacher chooses for your project. These demands say that your work should have certain parts written in a very particular way.

The Three Main Research Paper Parts

As any other academic project, your paper is going to have three main parts:

  1. An introduction.
  2. It’s a very important part of your work because it’s the first thing your readers see when they open your paper. It explains your goals, represents your thesis statement, and the importance of your investigation. Many students think that as soon as it opens their projects, it should be written in the first turn. It’s a poor idea, in fact. Professionals recommend leaving the intro for the final writing part when you already have all your findings and results of your investigation. It’s much easier to compose it correctly when you already know what for all this has been done.

  3. A body part.
  4. There are three paragraphs in it, as a rule. Each of them is given to a separate statement you make in your investigation and all the reliable proofs that you can find in reference literature. It’s very important to keep in mind all the formatting details in this part, especially if you render citations. It’s a very good idea to have a guidebook that explains all the formatting details clearly and concisely. Such guidebooks can be found online and in offline libraries.

  5. Conclusions.
  6. This part of your project shows the results you have received during the investigation. It’s very important to make sure whether they match the goals you have set in the introductory part of your project. This is another reason why the intro should be written after all the other parts of your work.
